The series "And this is me" is intended to inspire one to accept oneself lovingly and proudly - with all weaknesses and strengths. It encourages more self-determination and joie de vivre.
This portrait series is based on a photograph by Coco Chanel. For this, Mimi Vollgraf portrayed different women independently of each other. Before each portrait shoot, the photographer asked the same question and task: "What does courage mean to you? Show me how you look when you feel courageous".
The selection of the resulting photographs shows different self-interpretations with different facets - sometimes reflected, sometimes wild and sometimes a bit over the top.
With this work, the artist wants to show that we all don't have to pretend and should be brave enough to show ourselves exactly as we are.
